Cross-border growth,
without the expensive guesswork

Pivot is a senior, bilingual team on the ground in Japan and the US. We find out whether a market is worth entering, help your product fit it, and represent you in front of real customers, so you move on facts, not hope. Both directions: Japanese companies going global, and global companies entering Japan.

01 / Outbound Strategy

Global Expansion

Take a Japanese product or service to the world. We research the target market, adapt it and its story to fit, and represent you in front of customers abroad.

  • An honest read on real demand in the target market
  • Product and messaging adapted to local buyers
  • Direct representation in front of foreign customers
  • Relationships built so you stay in their memory
  • Support through partnerships, joint ventures, and M&A

02 / Inbound Support

Japan Market Entry

Bring an international product or service into Japan. We test real demand, adapt to local expectations, and build the trust and presence Japan requires.

  • Real Japanese demand tested before you commit
  • Product and pitch adapted to local expectations
  • Consensus and trust built the way Japan requires
  • A lasting, on-the-ground presence, not a fly-in
  • Support with local partnerships, joint ventures, and M&A

03 / How We Work

From an honest read to lasting presence

It starts with one honest question: is this market worth your time and money? When it is, here is how we work.

Honest counsel
Sometimes the most valuable thing we deliver is a clear “not yet.” Before a company spends real money entering a market, we research actual demand and give a straight recommendation. An honest no, early, is far cheaper than a slow, expensive maybe.

We get deep into your product and the value it actually delivers. No surface-level involvement.

01

On the ground, in both languages

We’re genuinely there, in Japan and the US, working in Japanese and English. We don’t manage your market from a spreadsheet an ocean away.

02

We go deep, not superficial

We take the time to truly understand your technology, product, or service, so we can represent it as if we built it ourselves.

03

Honest counsel

Our honesty either saves you time and money, or shows you how to pivot your product to fit the market. Either way, you get the truth.

04

We understand both sides

After years navigating Japan and the world, we connect the dots between what a product offers and what a foreign market actually wants.

05 / Expertise

Industrial and deep-tech, across the Pacific

Our depth is in industrial equipment, hardware, and deep-tech, products built on real engineering. We move them in both directions across the Pacific: foreign technology into Japan, and Japanese technology out to the world. That can mean helping an end user grasp a technology that is genuinely new to them, and it always means presenting the value the way the target market evaluates and decides. We do that on both sides, across very different fields. Below are the sectors we know best.

07 / The Team

The people on your engagement

Every Pivot engagement is led by senior operators, never handed down to juniors. Between them, our leads have run field operations and gone to market inside some of the hardest technical sectors in the world, on both sides of the Pacific. That range is the point: it is why almost no industry feels foreign to us.

A senior core, backed by a vetted specialist network. We assign the right people to your project, in English and Japanese, and they stay on it.

08 / Identity

Why we exist

Japan builds some of the finest products and services in the world, and sells far too few of them abroad. Not for lack of quality, but because the world too often rewards cheap over good, and because being excellent in Japanese doesn’t automatically earn trust in English. We think that is the wrong outcome. Distance, language, and a lower price tag should not decide whose work gets to win. So we carry it across, in both directions: Japanese excellence out to the world, and serious international products into Japan, represented on the ground by people who have actually done the work.

What we believe

Good should not lose to cheap just because it is harder to explain, or further away. We back things built to last over things built to be replaced, and we tell you the truth about your market, even when the honest answer is “not yet.” When something doesn’t fit, we help you adjust it rather than force it. That is the pivot in our name, and the quiet fight behind everything we do.

Let's talk

Whether you are weighing a new market or already committed, start with a conversation. Tell us about your product or service, and we will give you a straight, honest read on the opportunity and how we can help.

Who we work best with

We do our best work with clients who want an honest partner, not a yes-man. If that sounds like you, we should talk.

  • You want a straight answer, even when it is "not yet."
  • You value senior people doing the work, not a rotating cast.
  • You are building for the long term, not just a quick win.
